The next topic is something every manager has been dealing with throughout the whole of his career. Change or improve. And sometimes this must change. So far this was “not done,” but now is the time to change. But how do you know when to change and when no (yet)? In most cases a manager is involved with improvements. Targets are not completely met and the simplest way is to check where in the process things could improve. Change requires more effort and is not always needed. Change may get things worst at first before the may improve in the long-term. The experienced manager, but also the first-time-manager has experienced a lot of change and this experience will help him to manage change. One of the last big changes of the manager was obviously the change towards his role as a manager (previously being a specialist). The coaching example for change could be one where the game changed over time. For example the change to “Total-Football,” introduced by the Dutch soccer team Ajax.
